Webby research

I got this from [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2 who says the student is vouched for by [livejournal.com profile] mtgat. I didn't find the questions that hard.

I helped a university student with research -- won't you do the same?

This probably proves your integrity. And maybe it's easier to reckon up your online/face-to-face contacts when you don't get to as many conventions?

Yes, I didn't find that hard at all; there aren't that many. I also probably found it easy because as far as socialising goes, I'm really only a member of two B7 mailing lists and an LJ community which has many of the same people in it. I don't really count linguistics communities etc as they function more as bulletin boards where people exchange information with very little social interaction.

::waves:: Socializing! Socializing! :)
::happy now::

[waves happily back] My best friends are e-friends. It's the perfect community for nerds introverts.

I wasn't sure what "community" meant, though, in an LJ context. An LJ community? The entirety of LiveJournal? My friendslist?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
I regarded it as my friends list, as that's a community in the social sense because so many of us know each other in some way. I belong to several language communities which aren't really, not in that particular sense.

I'm surprised she didn't have LJ as an option.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
The group of people I interact with on LJ is so amorphous, though. There's a lot of people on my flist I barely know, and a lot of friends-of-friends I find myself interacting with all the time.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
When that happens, I usually put them on my own flist. Then I find out that a lot of my existing friends already knew them.

I tend to filter out or remove people I don't interact with or have nothing in common with.

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
I sort of started out doing that, but my flist is pretty big already, and I'm much more leery about adding or removing people since I discovered that some people get really funny about it.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-07-30 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah me too, but if I encounter a person a lot and get on well with them, I go for it.

You nerd omg.

And this is why I love you, yes.

BIG SQUEEZES OMG. And I mean it. Yes.

[laughs and hugs you back] Thanks, mate!
