Well, damn

We don't watch much live TV, usually just cricket, the Euro and World cups... and the Olympics. So of course the cats choose now to do some indefinable damage behind the entertainment complex (TV, DVD player, TiVo etc. They've probably disconnected wires. [rolls eyes] And this after a couple of weeks that have brought us vomit on a keyboard, worse on the hall carpet, and pee in a handbasin.

Smooching me and butting me and purring doesn't help, Ashley, but it does soften my heart.

[Edit] Greg found the loose wire. I suspect Jasmin who has carried on Tessa's tradition of disconnecting devices. Avon's exploits in Pets were based on Tessa's for good reason.

When I got home from my travels yesterday Small Furry made a break for it and escaped. I am presuming that was reparation for being stuck in her cage for three days (even if it is a rather posh huge new one).

The good thing is she is getting to the nosy stage, so if you spot where she is and sit down and wait she'll come and sniff you. Then you can grab her!

Awww, cute! At least she doesn't fiddle with wiring. Jasmin was behind the TV last night but she must have gone back overnight. Sigh.

Thankfully this one doesn't eat things. Previous ones ate clothing, or wires, or both. This one just hides in holes and sticks her nose where she might lose it!

Oy. Cats. Mine, lately, have been shredding my rather nice old rugs with their nice sharp claws. Not nice. And then there are the hairballs... usually on the not-yet-shredded bits of said rugs... Ugh.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-07-31 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I've had to put two lovely rugs away. I need to get the tassels taken off (they've gnawed them) and the edges re-whipped.

They do have a scratching post and surface and they do use both but it hasn't stopped them trying their claws elsewhere. :-( I love them to bits but there's definitely a downside.

Without putting myself back into a bad mood by being specific, let me just say, I am *totally* on your wavelength re: our cats. I have long believed that they really ARE alien beings sent here to enslave humans, and they have succeeded - there is no other explanation for why I continue to coddle, feed, pet, groom, vet, clean up after, and worry about these messy, destructive beasts.

Oh, hold on - the old cat's meowing about something. I have to go--

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-07-31 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, and we stay in uncomfortable positions on the sofa or in bed for fear of disturbing the little creatures. So far I haven't cut a sleeve off though!

They're alien all right. They can teleport and disappear to other dimensions.

they rely on the softening of our hearts

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-07-31 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It's true; I can't stay angry for long. If they want cuddles, they get. :-)

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2012-07-31 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Our cats. Yes, I recognise that case. Fortunately Tygr has never been a "dismantling type".:-)Well, he does thousands of other things.
But they know us too well. And we love them very much...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-07-31 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, they do, and we do!

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2012-07-31 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
At least the damage was only temporary. One of ours has the nasty habit of chewing headphone cables.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-07-31 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Tessa used to chew cables. Apparently painting them with Tabasco sauce helps but I never tried it.

[identity profile] quabazaa.livejournal.com 2012-08-01 09:20 am (UTC)(link)
Cute and yet so annoying :P I love the idea they are carrying on Tessa's tradition, hahaha

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-08-01 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
And she wasn't even around when they were to teach them!

Sigh. I got home today to see that Jasmin had once again peed in a handbasin, probably because it was raining. [rolls eyes] Not so cute.

[identity profile] quabazaa.livejournal.com 2012-08-01 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
Better in the handbasin than on the floor I guess, lol. But not cool!

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2012-08-02 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Naughty cats... it would be scary if they had thumbs like ours. :(

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-08-02 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
They'd probably dismantle it all and build a matter transmitter. Come to think of it, that would explain all the things I can't find.
