vilakins: Vila in cold-weather clothes looking unhappy (weather)

Packing up our lives

The packers are here packing up our life into big boxes. They're here tomorrow too. Soon all we'll have is our bed and the stuff we need for the trip to Oamaru. I'm not sure I'll ever move again, the way I'm feeling now. I know it'll be great once we're actually there and unpacked with cats, but the process is horrible.

The cats were picked up yesterday and taken out to the cattery in the country which Jetpets use. I almost cried when Ashley put her paws through the bars of her carry crate to touch me. I rang there this morning and she was up a cat tree, but as usual Sebastian won't eat. They're there for about 10 days so he'd better stop pining soon. He's the one who gets the most upset, also about visitors, so I do worry about him.

I got soaked going out to get a prescription refill, and according to my weather app, it's going to rain for the next week or so, all over the country apparently. So much for what could have been a fun road trip.

*Hugs*

Moving from settled house to settled house is horrible. Might be different as a nomads, who've figured out different ways of living.

But Pulling up roots is horrid.

But after you're settled again, things will be better.

My thoughts are also with the furpeople, of course..

Moving house is bad enough but moving far away is even harder. Your kitties will be fine, I'm sure, and once you are all there and settled it will be lovely! Good luck *hugs*.

Good luck! Be safe on the roads out there, and I'm wishing for the least possible amount of stuff to go wrong as you unpack and try to find everything.

Love to the kitties.

I want to go and see them on the way down on Friday, but it would only unsettle them.

*offers chocolate* Hope you will all be ok.

[eats chocolate] Thanks! The thought of driving all that way in the pouring rain, not to mention crossing the strait, doesn't fill me with confidence.

I'm not surprised you almost cried, I would have too. I have to steel myself every time I leave Quincy

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2016-06-23 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
Not the other two? I suppose you've had Quincy so long.

[identity profile] zoefruitcake.livejournal.com 2016-06-23 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Not in the same way, I miss them but they are eclipsed by Quincy as he is so attached to me. Misty loves Stegzy and Zeb is a law unto himself, but Quincy is so chock full of personality

Ashley's a darling and Jasmin is very cute, but Sebastian is so attached to me, he's special to me too. I hate that he's pining for me. He'll have to get used to it as once we'll be taking more holidays.

My sympathies about the unsettling feeling about moving. I've done it many times now (I recently had a conversation with Michael and we counted it up as moving 9 times) but you have a whole household of stuff and memories. I'll probably have another move soon (being made redundant again) and that will actually be with furniture as I acquired some on this last stop. At least with a hamster, when I move, so long as the cage comes with me they can be carried in a rucksack.

True! That makes it easy.

I'm sorry to hear you've been made redundant again. I've been there.

Ah dear, no wonder you feel like that - you are leaving a piece of life behind and the difficulties of moving are getting to everyone. But my heart goes to your lovely cats, especially darling Sebastian. I will keep my fingers crossed for you as well as for your lovely cats. I wish the weather camr to senses and travel safely, you and Greg - and the cats, of course!

It's been wet-fine-wet-fine today and apparently will be OK tomorrow. The rest of the trip? I don't know, but I hope it's calm when we cross the strait.

Fingers crossed for a safe journey for you and the cats!

Thank you! :-)

I know, we only moved across town and that was bad enough... but it will be wonderful once you settle in...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2016-06-23 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
It will be! But all that unpacking yet to come, oy. Yeah, I'm thinking: never again.

I hope you'll soon settle into the new house, and your cats will too!!

Thank you. We arrive there tomorrow evening, but as our belongings will not be there yet, we'll be in the holiday house next door. It will be great to be there though.
