Happy New Year!
We're 20 minutes into 2014 here and have not just seen the fireworks on the Sky Tower but also let off a multiple one of our own that one of Greg's clients gave him: very loud but not enough pretty aerial explosions.
Anyway, all the best to all of you in 2014!

BTW, I suspect that "have not just seen" should read "have not only just seen".

Greg's annoying sister rang him up at 7am this morning under the assumption that everyone goes to bed and gets up as early as she does, even on new year. Oy.

"Just" means "only" (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/just#Adverb). I could change it a la Pete Cook and Dudley Moore but hey, regional differences! We don't say "whilst" or use "only" for "except that" or "it's just that" either. Sometimes I wonder if I should use "only" in my fic but it just doesn't come naturally.
I suspect "yesr" should be "year". :-) I'm reading George Takei's Oh Myyy! and it obeys the law that typos sneak into comments about grammar: following a chapter on bad grammar he uses "it's" as a possessive. I got an advance digital copy so I hope he found and fixed that.

Looking good so far.
A new year, a new Doctor, a new Sherlock.

I'd misinterpreted "just" as meaning "recently".
