Partial eclipse of the sun

There's a 91% eclipse this morning and I'm hoping we'll get some clear sky to see it. Just in case we are both armed with our viewing specs from the Stardome Observatory. Pity there aren't many trees around the big global drink company where I'm contracting as you get the most amazing crescent-shaped dappling through them but I'll take my camera anyway.

Hope you got to see it. I saw coverage of the full eclipse in Queensland on the overnight news.

Yes, when we had the partial eclipse here in 1999 it was noticeably colder and rather grey, but not dark. It was total down in Cornwall, but my brother and his family went to Germany in the hope of a better view, and were very excited - they were talking about going to Zimbabwe for another one two years later, but nothing came of it.

I saw the Queensland total eclipse on the news last night, fantastic. We had one here in 1999. I sat out with my #2 son and it got really quite dark where we lived in the south of England and all the birds stopped twittering. Really eerie and marvellous to see although it was a bit cloudy.

I didn't realise it was happening until afterwards. There were a lot of black clouds around but the sun was shining through very brightly in parts, and there had been a thunderstorm the night before; when the light started going strange I just thought it was the black clouds doing something. A very odd quality of light, and I did notice it got colder all of a sudden.

I've got the glasses, but we've got CLOUD. :(
Guess I'll just watch the live stream.

We had intermittent cloud, but that was cool too as I could see the crescent through it directly. :-)

I saw it but I didn't notice the day seemed any dimmer. Still, very cool!

I've seen that! Totally didn't expect to see anything, and then the light coming in through my windows started to look funny and I saw all these crescents cast across the walls, and realized the gaps between the leaves were acting as hundreds of pinhole cameras. Really amazing.
