Possum, tiger cubs, and Star Wars

A couple of links that may amuse or interest you.

A possum whose eyes were too big for its stomach. And yes, that photo would be untouched: one of Greg's company's local clients stored some cartons of expired soy milk (So Good to be precise) out the back of their factory and possums broke in and drank too much to move when they were found the next morning. It must be something they do.

From Retronaut, a zoo-keeper's wife taking care of tiger cubs in 1944. Awwww.

Also Retronaut, Star Wars photoshopped into historical war photos. This is sometimes amusing and sometimes really a bit creepy.

And now I'm off to bed after a miserable and wet day in which I was forced outside by the necessity of buying cat food.

Love the links! The possum is so cute! Some of those Star Wars ones look so realistic.

The possum is hilarious!

Wow, I am totally coming down on creepy as far as those Star Wars pics are concerned, especially the one with the woman fleeing down the street with her bags while the walker comes up behind her. Very well done, but they give me the shivers.

As for possums - greedy, dirty little vermin, the lot of them. But their fur makes good socks in a wool blend. *g*

Thanks for the links. :)

That possum bit off more than he/she could chew, that's for sure. ;)

I think some of those Star Wars pics were creepy, yes, but some of them were funny, such as the robots in tough-guy poses around a car. :)

Poor you for having to go out today...

This possum had a belly like a drum, so funny, like we people when we get a chance to have something free:-)
Aw, these cubs are so sweet, this little face, oh dear, I would likr to cuddle them myself. And the lady is very lovely.
Great idea, I have seen also Star Trek like that.
Thank you for sharing!

Awww, your possums look a lot like our opossums, although the face is cuter. :)

I love those cubs!

The Imperial Walker in the fog is rather ominous, but I lmao at the Death Moon.

Why on earth didn't I marry a zookeeper?

[identity profile] ultrapsychobrat.livejournal.com 2012-03-11 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, love the pictures of the possum and the tiger cubs. Those possums look different from the ones we have here--much cuter, not so much like a rat.

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2012-03-11 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww cute possum! The question was, how round was its tummy, before it entered the shop?

Interesting photos.

I wonder what happened to those cubs?

The one that really creeped me out was the one with the running woman as she was a real, terrified person.

Yeah, I wasn't happy. Today seems to have cleared up a bit. I even went down the road for lunch (Pita Pit; it's felafel on special day).

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-03-12 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
It would be so hard to give the cubs up though. Of course there'd be no choice: they'd have to go into a breeding program, they'd be too big, and as the guy at the Zion Wildlife park says, never turn your back on a tiger. He said the adults can't ever really be trusted. But awww, cubs! I'm glad I had a chance to feed and play with the white ones a few years ago. That's one of them in my icon. :-)

"That's no moon. Um, wait, it really is!"

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-03-12 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
It would be so hard to give them up, and you'd have to before they got too big. OTOH I know people who foster kittens and I think I'd want to keep them all.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-03-12 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
the are different! They're Australian possums which don't have a natural predator here so they're a pest. They really damage our trees.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-03-12 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Someone else asked just that about the cubs on the site. I suppose they'd get swapped to another zoo for breeding.

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2012-03-12 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
That one was creepy, yes. :( The one where you see the AT-AT through the mist by a motorway gave me the chills too.

It's good knowing places that have specials. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-03-12 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
And I do love my felafels!

How about meeting up again sometime? :-)

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2012-03-13 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds good. :) How about meeting up this Thursday?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-03-13 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
Aaugh, I'm meeting Greg that day (at Karadeniz) which is very unusual; I'm almost always free. Friday? Or sometime next week if it's not wet, whichever day suits you?

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
That's ok. How about Monday?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-03-14 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
OK with me if it's not pouring with rain! If so, we can phone each other in the morning; I have your mobile number (if it's the one ending in 59) and I think you have mine. :-)

Actually I'm not even having lunch with Greg tomorrow after all--I'm going to be out on the golf course with colleagues and clients. I got talked into it today at work. We get to serve refreshments or drive golf carts and also get lunch and dinner; not bad!

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2012-03-15 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
That's good. :) Yes, we've got each others mobile numbers. What time / where do you want to meet?

Hope it went well at the golf course, it's been a nice day for it. :)

Around 12 (before it gets too busy)? Where would you like to go around that general area? Urban again, somewhere else there? I know there are lots of cafes down near Khyber Pass but they always seem packed.

It did, thanks! I'm really tired now though.

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2012-03-15 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
Why don't we meet at Urban then, and we can look around if we want something different. I'm not really familiar with the other cafes in the area, so if you know another good cafe, I'm ok with that. :)

Hope you feel better tomorrow. :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-03-15 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Urban it is! I like it and it's convenient. :-)

I'm fine now after a good night's sleep.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-03-18 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
The weather forecast says it'll be pouring all day tomorrow so it's probably safest to cancel; once I get to work I'll be sheltering there and possibly drying out till home time.

Yeah, too much to hope for to have decent weather for more than a week. :-( Do you want to see if it fines up again later in the week?

I'm taking a week off the week after this one so there's always then. We can still meet at Urban as my car park is very near there.

[Edit] Or just in case they're wrong about tomorrow, do you want me to phone you around 11 say?
Edited 2012-03-18 08:00 (UTC)

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2012-03-18 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
The forecast does look horrible. :(

But yes, phone me at 11 just in case they're wrong...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-03-18 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
OK!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2012-03-25 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, I can't remember which day we agreed for this week. and BTW I'll be at work after all since Greg has to sort out legal quake red-zone stuff in Christchurch.
