Sherlock speculation

It is new year's eve here which means that Sherlock is only a couple of days away so now might be the time to reveal a theory I have.

OK, I know Molly's name is Molly Hooper and there's Jim Moriarty, but I can't help but feel her name is significant.

The pet form of Sarah is Sally, Caroline Cally, Terence Tel, Laura Lolly or Lally etc etc, so is Molly short for Moriarty? She was well placed in the morgue to plant clues, and maybe she's the clever sister using her brother as a front (see H G Wells in Warehouse 13). Sherlock had a blind spot about Harry being a woman so maybe he has here.

But hey, I was wrong about Tarrant being a Federation plant even though I could list lots of clues seeming to point that way.

In any case, I can't wait!

Well, I assumed that after the opening episode, when the cabbie said "You're just a man and they're so much more." I'm not holding out very much hope at this point, because the writing of the women in Sherlock has been pretty poor and Moffat & Gatiss actually seem to like Jim, whereas I just found him extremely irritating. But let's hope he turns out to be a big red herring, like Cancer, come January 15!

I don't think they dislike women as such, they just don't seem to be interested in them. Which is odd, when Moffat has created strong and interesting women like River and Amy. I'm waiting to see what he's done with [tomorrow's female character].

I know who she is. Apparently fans are divided between excitement and foreboding because of the hatefest they know will happen. A lot of viewers don't like female characters either; see River.

Friends of mine have already seen the first episode - they managed to get tickets for the preview at the National Film Theatre! I won't say what they thought, though...

I have no theories about Sherlock (and I'm okay with Tarrant, too) but I don't know if you've listened to the B7 S3 commentaries? Because David Maloney on one of them says something like, "I never trusted that Tarrant - the way he came in, switching sides like that." So he was a little of your way of thinking!

I heard he was actually intended to be a plant, then they changed their minds. I was so certain due to his name and various other things like not being very good at catching ore ships despite his skill. Ah well, I've used it in fics so it's all good.

And maybe they would have used it if David Maloney had stayed - I was interested to hear him say that. Although, the name... :lol: Coming from DW, I already knew never to be surprised at Terry Nation using a variant of 'Tarrant'. (I'm sure somewhere I've got a full list of all the times he's used it or something similar, but I don't know where. or why, come to that.)

Well, I've used Dev Tarrant as Del's uncle. The name even fits the family De* pattern. When I saw B7 in reruns here it was 6 days a week so Dev Tarrant was clear in my mind; after that I kept seeing more clues pointing to Tarrant being a plant.

I've written him as being programmed to get Blake and not aware when it kicked in, as when he caused Avon to kill Blake. it explains why he didn't turn in the crew; he was after Blake though he wasn't consciously aware of it.

BTW I'm savouring your Servalan/Avon stories, reading one at a time. Brilliant stuff!
