Charity sale and Soviet space posters

The Lonely Miaow (the cat foster shelter organisation I got Ashley and Sebastian from) had a charity "garage" sale today. I didn't get that great a haul: just a set of nice porcelain mugs I'm going to give to my sister, painted wooden Thai cat and fish that sort of go with the ones I already have, a small tray, and two Mexican ceramic cats. That takes care of two days in August art month anyway. They were only charging $1 or $2 an item so I gave them more than that; they deserve it. What they mostly had was clothes, all piled on long tables, but they were too difficult to look at all jumbled up like that. I bet there was some great vintage stuff mixed up in there too.

Anyway, have some beautiful Soviet space posters, link care of [personal profile] toft. :-D There's an English translation under each.

Those posters are gorgeous! Although I think some of 'em are better without the translation. :)

We can always make our own up!

The posters are fantastic!

I like the way you say you didn't get a good haul and then detail all the things you bought :D It's true though, if it's for a good organization I tend to buy more.

Yay, I'm not the only one thinking of August Art month. :^)

I always admire the charity events abroad. Here it is still sleeping...
Ah, these posters - part of my childhood! They really knew their job!

*Grins* No, you are not!

Aren't they great!

That was a pretty small haul. Usually I get books but they're selling books in a couple of months. I'll be back (even though I no longer have shelf space for more).

Well, that's only two days. I get more desperate for subjects every year. I just hope I've acquired a new PSE by then as GIMP lacks some of the brushes I like and I use both for their best features.

Sometimes I feel there are too many charities. I'm happy to support the ones I do, but we're always being rung up about odd ones like sending children recovering from burns to the circus.

Those posters are beautiful and at least two have revolutionary heroes looking or charging bravely towards the future. Ahhh, yes! :-D I used to have some on my wall at boarding school (which was full of snobby capitalists I liked to annoy).

I hope you get the program in time. I also hope I remember to do some watercolor. It's hard for me, so the only time I ever do it is when the Artathon impels me. :^)

*Grin* Yes, these old posters did have that "juice" didn“t they?
The charity here is still not professional enough, there are still many strange people in the streets collecting money from goings on. You never know if they are "genuine". I have chosen mine too and my blood donation.

It sounds like you walked away, with some pretty cool stuff. =)

I'm pleased with what I got. :-)
