Timber!

There are really strong winds today, and one of our (many) trees blew down sometime this morning. Luckily I could back my car out past it to get to the library (I know my priorities) but we're going to have to cut it up this evening.

Vic seems to like it. I've found him sitting on the ground inside the branches twice.

Down this end too, and the rain was something fierce. However, we're still all here. :-)

Sorry you lost your tree, but smiles for Vic making the best of it.

It can't have been healthy to come down like that. I'd have thought the fence would have sheltered it.

Ah, you were lucky, this is so dangerous! Wow, the wind must have been horrible. Just take care. The cats including :-)

I'm sorry to hear about your tree, and hope it won't take too long to cut up.

It's been a windy day, that's for sure...

I'm glad you're okay, and your house is okay!

It gets scary sometimes when there are gales, living at the top of a hill; the wind really whistles round the house. It's all died down now and is nice and quiet. I think the cats would know it was happening, or at least get out of the way very quickly. I was pleased to see them all though.

Greg cut it up enough to move it into a corner so we can turn our cars again. We'll deal with it properly in the weekend. It looks as if most of it was pretty dead. I suspect another one is ready to come down. :-P

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-31 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
Yep! It landed just by the carport. It wasn't that heavy, so I doubt it would have cause much damage to the house, but it probably would have if a car had been parked there.

It's a shame to lose the tree, even if it wasn't healthy, but I'm glad that there wasn't any damage.

The entire world is, of course, provided for the benefit of cats. Vic is probably quite pleased with this new facility...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-31 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's sawn up into big hunks now and is in the corner out of the way of the cars. I bet Vic finds his way into the pile, and the cubs will be bringing dry sticks in to play with for a while. :-)

Vic was obviously enjoying his new hidey-hole :0) Poor tree though

Cats are adept at finding new places to sprawl comfortably, aren't they?

Do you have a fireplace to burn the wood?

[identity profile] reapermum.livejournal.com 2009-08-31 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Un-nerving to have a tree come down, even a small one can cause damage.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-31 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not really a hidey-hole; you can see him easily through the mostly bare branches. Silly cat.

It looked mostly dead, so it was on its way out. :-P

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-31 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't imagine what the attraction was. You can dee him so easily in there, among the mostly bare branches.

We don't. We'll just let it dry out, then chop it up and put it in the garden bag for collection.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-31 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Luckily it just fell in part of the driveway. The last one fell right across so we had to saw it up to get out.
