Day 8 - Ashley

Today's [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo entry is Ashley, a quick and dirty one because I was out most of the day, then went out for dinner. She was sitting on the deck like this today, just like one of those stylised cats with the curved tails that kids draw.

Ashley

Her stripes are a lot more numerous and delicate as you can see in the icon, but hey. This was fast impression.

My NaArMaMo 2009 Gallery is here.

Gorgeous--I love your drawings of the cats.

Reminds me of a mug I once had "You're nobody till you've been ignored by a cat..."

Lovely :)

:-) I have a birthday card with an aloof cat with the text: "Cats know when their owner's birthday is. They just don't give a damn."

She was actually being very friendly, following me everywhere and trying to climb--ouch!--my legs. Then her attention was caught by something, and she was the Cat Who Sat On The Mat.

This one was a very easy shape to draw!

I love how you can make something so true-to-life out of a few lines and some shading :)

Oh lovely! I really enjoy your drawings especially ones of the cats. I'm a bit in awe of your talent, as I have no artistic ability whatso ever.

She looks full of attention :)

Aww, so soft and warm and cuddly. *squeezes until she squeaks* You do lovely textures and form.

Bee-yotiful!

She looks like she is very intent on something.

Thanks! It's not that true to Ashley though. Her stripes aren't that solid except in a few places, and much more widely distributed. It's more generic silver tabby. :-)

I've loved drawing all my life, but it was always people or machines (planes!). I'm learning how to do cats and other subjects by practising in Augusts.

SHe could see something in the garden. :-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-08 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
She does squeak! She has a tiny sad little kitten squeak, and she's so soft, like a plushie. :-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-08 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep, her attention was caught by something in the garden, probably a bird. Up till then she was in constant motion.

Thanks! She really is; I love to look at them.

AWwwww. That's so cute. :^)

Tommy has gone around the house today calling for Tara. It's weird because he never seemed to like her, but he's gone to all the places she used to hide and said 'MRROUW?' in this deep, soft voice that he hardly ever uses.

Ah, poor boy! I read up a lot on animal grief (and human grief about them) after Tessa and Claudia, and it seems that animals who didn't even like the missing one will still grieve. Vic didn't seem to, but he became more confident and affectionate without Claudia, who used to keep him in his place.

They were kittens together, and she was always a fixture in his life, so I'm sure he's feeling a sense of loss. Even Bonnie seems a bit more affectionate and she's the kind of cat who can go months without feeling the slightest interest in approaching me for a pet.

It's the essence of aloof silver tabby :)
