Yay! Fixed!

Greg fixed my mouse problem! I was having trouble with the graphics pen too and about to post that I couldn't do [livejournal.com profile] naarmamo this month when he found that my computer thought I had a serial ball mouse connected. There was an old serial connection to the Empeg (MP3 player) which wasn't needed any more as we can access it via ethernet, so he unplugged the cable and behold: my mouse and pen now work! He thinks the connection was faulty or damaged (possibly by marauding cubs) and sending noise which the computer interpreted as someone moving a mouse around.

I am so relieved!

And now I should go and draw something.

HURRAHHHH!!!

[echoes you] I am just so relieved after a very frustrating two days.

Yay! I'm glad it turned out to be something easy. :)

It's horrible when your computer goes wonky. *hugs*

Yay, Greg!

Was the graphics pen playing up for the same reason?

I have used my graphics pen instead of a mouse in the past. I always find the absolute placement confusing.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
It seems so. The random spikes all pointed to the bottom right where the mouse cursor kept disappearing to. Generally the pen takes over, but I suppose if it looked like another mouse was being moved just off-screen, it would affect it--and the two other different mice we tried.

I'm used to the pen, and sometimes use it in some games where it's easier or quicker, but I noticed that Greg had a lot of trouble with it.

So am I! I was worried there was a virus or some ghastly corruption in the system. We get to depend on our computers so much.

Yes, with me it was because I tried to "stroke" the pointer with the pen to move it, the same way I do with the mouse. Which doesn't work :)

Yay! ::shakes pompoms in a southwesterly direction:: Yay! Naarmamo wouldn't be the same without you.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, thank you! And it wouldn't be the same without your birthday! When does that start? I hope you have something fun and yummy planned--or someone else does. :-)

Chinese food with the extended family for dinner tomorrow; I don't know what they have planned for cake.

I confess, I think of naarmamo as a sort of month-long birthday celebration. ;-) I plan to draw really bad cartoon vegetable monsters.

Excellent plans, then!

Ha! The dark side of Veggie Tales!

He's invaluable, isn't he?

I'm puzzled by those marauding cubs. Cubs of what?

[identity profile] zoefruitcake.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
oh that's good :0) Well done Greg

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 08:47 am (UTC)(link)
Jasmin and Ashley! They're too big to be kittens and they're not quite adults, so we call them cubs: a lion and a tiger one. :-)

Hosana!!!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
:-D

And I did! I drew cats.

[identity profile] jhall1.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
Excellent. :)

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 11:15 am (UTC)(link)
Yay!

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh good! I am gonna have a go too, although all I can do is icons, so one per day.... but I'll try and make them a fair bit better than just crop and text :)

[identity profile] bigdamnxenafan.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! Way to go Greg!

I know you're glad to have that problem sorted! :)

[identity profile] kalinda001.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! Just in time.

[identity profile] reapermum.livejournal.com 2009-08-01 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad it's sorted. Sometimes the simple solutions are the hardest to find.
