Happy birthday to Ashley

We're not sure exactly how old Ashley is, but going by the vet's estimate she's now one year old, and rates a new grown-up icon. I did consider setting her birthday to be the same as mine, which would also make her exactly three months older than Jasmin (who was born on 28 July), but decided that was unfair as I'm usually out celebrating. So we picked 1 May, just as I decided Vic the millennium cat was born on 1 January 2000.

As with all cat birthdays, we treat them all to tuna until it's finished, which they love: cat chocolate! No prezzies though unless you count a new collar to replace the one she used to undo, which won't please her.

So Ashley is now officially no longer a kitten, but we'd started calling her and Jasmin "cubs" a while back anyway as they were too big to be kittens despite being extremely playful and mischievous, and anyway they look like a little white tiger and lion.

Photos of the three girls

Ashley and Jasmin about a month ago. Ashley's wearing the first collar she removed--twice--and which we never found the second time.

ash and jas convo
"I'm all grown up now and you're still a kitten. Nya nya nya."
"See if I care. I'm cute."

Pretty kitties. Ours do *not* get along this well, although they tolerate each other.

Sooooo cute!

So pretty!

They are! I love them to bits, and they make me very happy.

That icon is too, and looks rather like her!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
LOL at your icon!

The XKCD cartoon it comes from (http://xkcd.com/231/) is almost painfully accurate. :)

Oh, it is! I remember that one. :-P

I keep asking them questions I know they won't answer. A post in [livejournal.com profile] linguaphiles had research that mothers in all cultures do that to stimulate speech. [hangs head in shame] It's not going to work, and the fact that I have any maternal instinct at all is just unnerving.

Eh, you're a mammal. It's nothing to be ashamed of. :)

I took Shiraz on longish train trips a couple of times. Quite a few people came to peer into the basket and then exclaimed 'A cat.'
Yes, well done. 10 out of 10 for pointing out the bleeding obvious.

Aw, lovely pics. I really like the top one' you can see their pretty faces and gorgeous fur so clearly.

I was just thinking of the same comic. Because really, my only comment on this post is "Kitties!!!!"

Ashley's fur is so soft and luxuriant. Jasmin's, like all Burmese, "a bricj wrapped in silk" - heavier than Ashley and very muscley and solid, but her fur's getting thicker and softer. They're both so cuddly and cute.

Ha! I wish I wasn't. I can do without those useless things on my chest.

[identity profile] kalinda001.livejournal.com 2009-05-04 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
They're very snuggly.

It was made by [livejournal.com profile] sallymn if I recall correctly. I've been considering replacing it with one based on one of my photos of Tessa or Claudia, just because I prefer using icons I've made myself, but I'm also aware that I probably wouldn't manage to make one as cute.

Who is this bald person with the cat on his shoulders?

I thought you'd made it! I do like it a lot.

Happy Birthday Ashley! The top photo is definitely a winner. :^)

And so is Ashley! She had a lovely weekend, full of tuna and extra cuddles! :-)

Oh, delightful! So glad Ashley had a great birthday--they grow up so fast. Your girls are all beautiful.
