There are lots of methods of casting on including that one (I use long-tail myself). Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant what she does once she's cast on her whole circle and is knitting what she's cast on. From that point you use the knit stitch style you're familiar with. If you want garter, you have to change to purl when you hit the marker, and back again when you encounter it again. :-P
