Happy days are here again

Last week I finished the most boring contract I've ever had. Now I know why some jobs are described as soul-destroying.

But I've just landed what may be the best one so far: maintaining the web site of a well-known electronics company. I get to use HTML, Photoshop, and Macromedia Fireworks which I've never played with before, plus take photos and write copy. It's only for a month or two, but it'll be fun and good for my CV.

The only drawback is that it's on the other side of Auckland, one of the largest cities in the world (in surface area) and I'll have to cross the harbour bridge, a bit of a bottle-neck at so-called rush hour. I'll have to get up in the dark!

But still, yay! I feel so happy I'll actually start my B7 ficathon story.

Ooh, that sounds like a dream job! *envies* Good luck!

Hurrah! Good for you! I hope it's as much fun as it sounds, and good luck with the travelling.

Well, done, hope it leads to many more of the same type. Freelance is such an up and down life, but it sounds like the kind of commission you want.

It does! I'd really like to get into desk-top publishing somehow and this sort of thing might help.

Thanks! All I need now is something permanent.

Thanks. I'm really not looking forward to that bit. I hate getting up early, especially in midwinter, but it's worth it for a good job. The last one was three minutes from home and that didn't begin to make up for how boring it was.

Hurrah for nice jobbiness

Hurrah! Too bad about the commute, though. Can you dodge the rush by working flexible hours?

Now I know why some jobs are described as soul-destroying.

"The hours are good, but, now that you mention it, the actual minutes are pretty dreadful" - paraphrased from Douglas Adams.

Hurray! Especially nice to land such a good job after a terribly boring one, it makes it even shinier. Yay:)

Yay for non-boring temporary jobs! That's brilliant!

Sounds about right. I like that.

I don't think it's worth negotiating different hours as I have to be there by 8:30 to score a carpark.
