Icon meme

Shana tova / happy new year to those who celebrate it. :-)

And here's another icon meme, snurched from [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2:

Look at your LJ userpics list. If you have fewer than 20 icons, post them all. If you have between 20 and 50 icons, pick every fifth one. If you have between 50 and 75 icons, pick every seventh one. If you have over 75 icons, pick every tenth one. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone why you have it, why it's interesting to you, and what significance it has.

Every 10th icon

This is a photo of Vila I scanned in from a Marvel mag because I thought it was rather striking. I use it for when I'm puzzled or appalled.

This is one of the tiger cubs I fed and played with as a birthday treat a few years ago (scroll down, and see page 2), playing with his own stuffed tiger cub toy. This is the original photo. I use it for when I think someone (usually a picture or a story about an animal) is cute.

Avon and Vila from Blake's 7. I think they were friends back in seasons 1 and 2, though they would deny it (this is from S1), and they're both thieves, though Avon would prefer a classier term like embezzler, so: thick as thieves! I use it for their friendship and their shared interests.

Gun-hand Soolin made to look a but like a drawing, hence the lame pun. I used to use it for arty stuff but now I have an art icon. It still gets used for Soolin-ness.

One of the first icons I had back when I started, but lower down the list since its maker, [livejournal.com profile] snowgrouse, revamped it for me (an appropriate verb). And really, wouldn't you?

Another Vila one, thought it's really the actor, Michael Keating in the picture, and very good he looks too. With added Bond-type text.

A lovely Vila one by the talented [livejournal.com profile] snowgrouse, showing him in the holding cells in the first episode. I use it for posts about prison, or, more often, time.

Yeah, there's a theme here, but what did you expect with my user name? This is Vila having a kip on the flight deck and is used for when I'm being lazy myself.

Our cat Vic, curled up on a rug, from a picture I drew of him on my graphics tablet.

Soolin again, from a Simpsons-style picture I drew of her. The whole crew is here; scroll sown.

I actually own this, a gladiator cow which I bought myself one birthday. You can see it here, posed with one of my Roman soldiers.

Ah, one of the most beautiful shots of Vila ever. Sadly I don't get to use it much because of the sentiment.

Oh, look! My brithday present from [livejournal.com profile] redscharlach! Isn't he adorable!

Our cat Claudia, curled up on a mat, from a picture I drew of her in naive style, and matched with the sort of text you get in a beginner's language textbook.

You know, I don't think I'd even seen that "don't much like the sound of that" one before, but, wow, that is a gorgeous Vila.

[identity profile] vandonovan.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
So, do you like this Vila guy or something?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
[looks evasive] Might do.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
It is! It's one of Lisa's more recent caps, and is stunning. Ah, here it is (http://www.framecaplib.com/b7lib/html/chars/images/volcano/alone/volca121.htm)!

[identity profile] astrogirl2.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, nice! Almost makes me want to go and watch "Volcano" again. :)

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 10:36 am (UTC)(link)
I have to say, the hand-drawn ones are something special :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

Nice icons! Michael Keating looks gorgeous in that one with the Bond text. Ooh.

[identity profile] reapermum.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
And a happy new year to you too.

I think there should be a general sharing of happy festivals, mainly as an excuse for more parties.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It's from this photo (http://www.tarrantnostra.com/b7lib/images/mk8.jpg) in the Tarrant Nostra gallery (http://www.tarrantnostra.com/b7lib/gallery.htm). So sexy!

I agree, in RL when you can meet up with others and have fun. I've done the Chinese new year a couple of times, and eaten far too many Indian sweets (I adore them) on Diwali. Hmm, that must be due soon. [looks it up] Ah, the 28th.

[identity profile] crycraven.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey! Happy new year! Have a great one.xx

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Toda raba! I hope it's better than the last one.

I've sent my CV out to about 10 places this last week, but I'm not holding my breath. I am as unwanted as S3 Vila. :-(

[identity profile] crycraven.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
*hugs*
Hang in there! Are you still doing the election work? What's it like? Is it like the West Wing? Ohhhh, tell me it's like the West Wing!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oh hell, no! I haven't heard back from them yet, but it will just be stuff like taking special votes beforehand, working at a polling booth on the day, and checking the accuracy and legality of the counts afterwards. Not very interesting, definitely not glamorous as it's in public halls or the shabby electorate office, and it pays shit. If I get anything else in the meantime, I'll be glad to turn it down, though working on the day is rather fun.

[identity profile] crycraven.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
oooooh - not very WW, but still something different! Polling booth would be good fodder for your writing - all those people to look at and make up stories about.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
You don't really get time, but I've met a few famous (here only) people who were voting. The only one I was impressed about was a stage actor.
