Weeping angel costume

I got these links from [livejournal.com profile] fangrrl_squees and had to pass them on. One of the people at Dragon*Con dressed up as a Weeping Angel (from the Doctor Who episode Blink) and even frightened Jewel Staite (there's a picture). The costume is absolutely stunning.

wow, it's fantastic!

That was amazing! Thanks ever so for the link.

I really wish I had costuming skills. Do you ever make costumes from scratch?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
Isn't it! I bet I'd have screamed too.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 10:31 am (UTC)(link)
Never! In fact I've never made one; nowhere to wear it anyway. My hed is pastede on yay in this icon.

That's what I call a costume!

Hey, my mates [livejournal.com profile] sam42 and [livejournal.com profile] 45eugenia went as Weeping Angels too, and Nathan Fillon (or however you spell that Firefly dude's name) took a photo of Gene at least! Sam's LJ should have pictures of their costumes. They did facepaint, and scared people shitless (apparently the adults were more scared than the kids)!

Guaranteed to scare children of all ages from 9 to 99!

Wow!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It's an amazing piece of work.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
It would have worked on me when she moved!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
So effective (and a lot of work)!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-09-05 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool! I'd like to have seen their costumes. I couldn't find any pics on that LJ.

It might have startled me, but then my nerves are on a hair trigger anyway. I totally cracked up my brother when he startled me by saying "Boo" just as I was coming out of the bathroom. I jumped so hard I left the floor not once but twice. He said it was like I'd been electrocuted. As I'd been hanging onto the light cord at the time it was then referred to as "the light switch dance".

I sometimes jump when a door opens, even when I've heard steps approaching, but I'm not that bad. I worked with someone like you and people used to ring her mobile while it was on silent buzz just to make her leap during meetings.

Bugger, she seems to have flocked the posts now. I don't think she's locked her gallery, but there are a few here:

Gene's the one throwing up the horns.

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2008-09-06 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
No fair! Did she end up switching her mobile off during meetings then?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-09-06 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh cool, thanks! I see they painted their faces which meant they could see well); did they do their arms too, or use tights like the other angel did?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-09-06 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
No; she was pretty good about it. I never jumped out at her like a colleague did either or try to startle her. Actually the only time I scared her was when I showed her a tiny wooden ladybug in a walnut shell (my computer bug) and the legs move because they're on fine wires. She screamed!

She's remained a good friend; I must catch up with her. :-)

They used paint all over.
