Approaching spring: picspam

We've had a couple of sunny days this month--ones in which the sun shone for more than five minutes--and I have picspam. Yay, it's almost spring (I think it officially starts on Monday). Not before time either; it's been a long and very wet winter.

The camellias are already out (astonishingly considering the weather)

Magnolias against an intense and strangely blue sky

Oh, those are all magnificent! I love the first and the last especially. Such vibrant colors. :D

Ah, that's where the sunshine has gone! :-) Beautiful, vibrant pictures.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Aren't they! It's been grey for months so I had to go out and take pics when the sun finally came out. I'm glad I always carry my camera because the magnolia was near a friend's place and I grabbed the opportunity to snap it.

Ha! Only for two days so far: one over a week ago and this Monday when I got the magnolia one. It's meant to be nice this weekend though. That'll be a change. :-D

The clivia are glowing with colour!

Yay, spring on Monday! :)

Those magnolias are beautiful, ours are just about finished.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
There's only one so far, but it is! I love that plant; I do nothing to it and it flowers faithfully every year.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
They're all out here at the moment. I love magnolias, esp these pink/purply ones.

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
ahhhh - the blossoms are gorgeous! Of course, as soon as I see the cats, I am melting...loooovely darlings!
And we have got almost the end of summer here, autumn knocks the door...

[identity profile] glitterboy1.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 08:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, what lovely sunshine and colours! I hope this means that spring is arriving...

nice pics, love the one of Vic in the corner

[identity profile] imhilien.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
Nice photos... it has been a shock seeing actual sunshine again recently. :-p

We've also had a couple of sunny days this month--ones in which the sun shone for more than five minutes- and it's August here. It's been a short and wet summer.

Lovely shots! The colours are captured really well. My, Vic is a handsome lad. =^.^=

BTW, noticing your icon, the kowhai around my workplace have just started to come out. Can't wait till they're all properly in bloom! *g*

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
I can't wait till we get into spring and summer! Cats, sunshine, and flowers are all Very Good Things.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. It's been a long and bad winter with floods and widespread damage, even last week. I'm amazed the flowers have even come out!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
He's such a poser! :-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
Wasn't Monday wonderful! It was even warm!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
So I heard. My sympathies. One expects bad weather in winter.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
Vic is very photogenic!

If kowhai are coming out, then spring is really on its way! :-D

[identity profile] linda-joyce.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 12:06 pm (UTC)(link)
These are beautiful pictures of spring. We too have had a wet and sunless month, if it were winter I wouldn't complain but August is supposed to be summer.

[identity profile] daiseechain.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that shot of the magnolias is magnificent, and just crying out to be painted.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, I heard, and sympathise. We had a summer like that which was incredibly depressing. :-(

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I did think about that. :-) I might make them my last artwork of the month.

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
The flowers are gorgeous. In that first cat picture, Vic looks like he's trying to remember what sun light is!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-27 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't be surprised. They look accusingly at us about the rain and having to go out in it.

"Prrrr, I like that feeling of warmth. They must have installed an outside heatpump."

Cats, flowers and sunlight. Beautiful.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-28 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
They certainly cheered me up, and I needed it. :-)

[identity profile] entropy-house.livejournal.com 2008-08-28 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Beautiful! Aww, Vic. I do so love black and white cats.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-08-28 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
He's rather a stunner. People always notice him. :-)
