Holiday pics: River cruise and an Ent

This is the last lot, until I spam you with photos of steam trains and Vilagrad Winery from our trip tomorrow.

You can go on a river cruise from the Aratiatia Dam to the Huka Falls. We were amazed to find Florrie was one of the passengers--and that she and her two friends were staying in the apartment we were in last year. Huh.

She was a game old bird, standing up in the bow for a good view with one of her friends.

River bank with toetoes (pronounced toy-toy), those lovely plumey things

Ent in Tokoroa, a timber town on our way back. Well, we thought it was.

Ah, how beautiful and colorful. The water is so blue and the foilage so green! And Florrie! Aaah, lovely stuff :D

Thanks! And yay that I've finally got them all up.

It's a beautiful area, from the drama of the falls to the quieter water and the river bank. What colours!

And Treebeard welcomes you to Tokoroa!

Thanks for the link to what happened to Florrie and Pearl. Amazing!

OK, after all these pictures, I'm starting to really wish I was going to be getting to NZ on my upcoming Australia trip. It's so pretty! Not that I didn't know that already, of course, but still. :)

The river bank with native flora - I wish I could explore it! Great pics, thanks!

:-D

It was a lovely river cruise; I'm sorry it took a whole year to find out about it and the rapids. We could have gone last year.

It is pretty but it's also primitive by your standards. There's no such thing as restaurant aircon for example. We make excellent coffee, but so does Australia.

It would be too steep to climb. You would love the kauri forests though.

But OTOH you have beautiful buildings! Apart from Napier, we really, really haven't.
