Album cover meme and assorted news

A few people did this make-your-own-album-cover meme a while back, but since it's a public holiday today and I'm home, and [livejournal.com profile] glitterboy1 did it, I had a go.

The instructions were:

  1. Go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first article title on the page is the name of your band.
  2. Then go to: http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.
  3. And lastly, go to: http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
Actually, that last link turns up some beautiful photos.

[Edit] Apparently there's a variation where you do step 1 15 times to get a tracklist. Here's mine.

Progress in Physics
Montaulin
Morita equivalence
Desecration
Bliss-stick
Nabrežina
Temporary resident
Blood Pheasant
Pelton wheel
Phospholipase A1
General Knowledge Club of Royal College Colombo, Sri Lanka
Celtic literature
Young Uttaranchal
Substitution of attorney
Edsel Roundup

Shilparamam, incidentally, is a village in India, and the album title is from "All my possessions for a moment in time", apparently said by Elizabeth I.

In other news, my ankles and feet are no longer swollen, though it took a couple of days longer than it should have because of the extreme and sickening heat in the office at work. I am enormously relieved. It's a beautiful day today, but also cooler which is lovely (and useful because I need to clean the place before I go away; sigh).

Today I bought an umbrella that looks like banana leaves and which I shall use as a literal umbrella--little shadow--in the sun. :-)

Oh and this looks like a good price for Doctor Who fob watches. I am tempted but so far resisting.

I tried the meme and ran into a technical problem- the 3rd image refused to be copied (I got a 'spaceball.gif') I cheated and took a screen shot to get it.

Nice album cover. Love the quote.

I'm glad that your ankles and feet are no longer swollen.

Is this heat wave normal for this time of year? How long does it usually last?

oooh Dr Who fob watches...

Yeah, that happened to me, too.

That image is so fitting for that title. Cool.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
I got that too, so I reloaded the page and chose the third image from that.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
I think that's the band on the seat. :-)

So am I! :-D

This summer is the hottest for 20 years (they're mostly patchy and have lots of rain) and it's predicted to last for another month or so. I hope it's fine and sunny on holiday, because the humidity will be way down at that altitude so it'll be perfect weather: hot and not sticky.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea where the picture was taken (I was slack and didn't look) but I can imagine it's Nepal. :-)

And your albums came out really well too.

[identity profile] entropy-house.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'm very happy your leggies are up and running again. :^)

My album is crud, but I'm going to post it anyway.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! The cooler weather (about 25C) is lovely too; I feel quite refreshed.

[identity profile] entropy-house.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
You need airconditioned socks. :^)

[identity profile] vjezkova.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Drop in here, we have got nice 7°! Glad you are better!

[identity profile] vandonovan.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I quite like this meme. I shall do it later. :D

glad your ankles are doing better too!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
Brrr! And I bet you have double-glazing and proper heating too! We tend to live au naturel here--but we have ordered a heatpump to be installed when we get back from holiday. Yay, cooling and heating! Sheer luxury!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
It's a cool meme. All the albums I've seen so far have been very believable from Indonesian fusion to German heavy metal. :-D

Me too. Yay for getting rid of horrible side-effects I didn't even know I had!

[identity profile] vandonovan.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 06:55 am (UTC)(link)
Yay I did it here (http://vandonovan.livejournal.com/976661.html). XD

[identity profile] jhall1.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 10:15 am (UTC)(link)
That band name, album title and cover work extremely well.

Glad to hear the good news about your feet.

That fob watch does seem remarkably good value. I assume that it can tell the time amongst all its other functions? They don't mention that!

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I tried the meme first time round and although it worked I couldn't post the damn thing.

Glad your ankles are no longer all swelled up.

Thanks for the watch. I now hope it arrives by Valentine's Day as dear hubby has coveted one of these since they first appeared on the show.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks and thanks!

Isn't it meant to be stopped? ;-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sure it will since you live there. What an excellent gift!

[identity profile] jhall1.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, good point. :)

[identity profile] glitterboy1.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I really like your album cover! I might even buy the album - especially given that some of the song titles are so evocative.

I'm glad that your ankles and fee are doing better! Does the replacement drug seem to have fitted in well? It's always slightly worrying, changing something!

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Well it would be except it's not available until AFTER February (Bit late for Valentines but there is Father's day!).

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I liked the cover too. :-) The track 'Bliss-stick' sounded a bit rude but they're actually a local kayak manufacturer!

I feel fine so I assume the new drug's working.

[identity profile] glitterboy1.livejournal.com 2008-02-06 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! Yes, that title had caught my eye, too!

Good, I'm glad to hear it.
