Things that made me smile

Here are three things that made me smile today (not an easy task) while I wait to hear about Tessa.

Reports that Lord Lucan is living rough outside Marton in a Land Rover with a cat and a pet possum. For some reason this tickles me immensely.

Greg has large fingers and I tease him that he can't get jaffas out of a packet and marvel that he doesn't hit several keys at once. He blames his Bulgarian father, and today he showed me the CD of Bulgarian folk music he borrowed from his sister: all the musicians on the cover have huge sausage-like fingers!

And welcome to [livejournal.com profile] nautile26 who is new to LJ. She lists the following in her interests: "blakes 7, drake's venture, fanfiction, kerr avon, science fiction, thomas doughtie, vila restal", so she fits in extremely well here (and has impeccable taste). :-D

The Lord Lucan thing made me smile, too. Glad to hear that Tessa is on the road to recovery.

He's not Lord Lucan; he's five inches too short--rather hard to fake, I'd think. It was the 'living rough outside Marton' that got me: geographical humour.

Tessa is doing well. I'm very hopeful.

He clearly wasn't Lord Lucan - what I loved was that some long-retired British detective living over there was dredged up and sent to check him out. The detective said, "You're not Lord Lucan." The guy said, "I know."

What's the geographical joke?

:-) Apparently it all blew up because disputing neighbours were going to appear on a reality show [rolls eyes] about, well, disputing neighbours.

It's hard to explain. Just the juxtaposition of his name with that of a NZ country town. Greg also said it was also a bit of an oxymoron to be living rough outside Marton.
