Brainworks Profiler results

OK, since [livejournal.com profile] mistraltoes wanted more datapoints, and so many others have done it in the meantime, here are my results from the Brainworks Profiler.

My Brain Usage Profile
Auditory : 33%
Visual : 66%
Left : 36%
Right : 63%

OK, that sounds right to me; I know I'm very visual. On to the details.

Details

Nico, you possess an interesting balance of hemispheric and sensory characteristics, with a slight right-brain dominance and a slight preference for visual processing.

Since neither of these is completely centered, you lack the indecision and second-guessing associated with other patterns. You have a distinct preference for creativity and intuition with seemingly sufficient verbal skills to be able to translate in any meaningful way to yourself and others.

You tend to see things in "wholes" without surrendering the ability to attend to details. You can give them sufficient notice to be able to utitlize and incorporate them as part of an overall pattern.

In the same way, while you are active and process information simultaneously, you demonstrate a capacity for sequencing as well as reflection which allows for some "inner dialogue."

All in all, you are likely to be quite content with yourself and your style although at times it will not necessarily be appreciated by others. You have sufficient confidence to not second-guess yourself, but rather to use your critical faculties in a way that enhances, rather than limits, your creativity.

You can learn in either mode although far more efficiently within the visual mode. It is likely that in listening to conversations or lecture materials you simultaneously translate into pictures which enhance and elaborate on the meaning.

It is most likely that you will gravitate towards those endeavors which are predominantly visual but include some logic or structuring. You may either work particularly hard at cultivating your auditory skills or risk "missing out" on being able to efficiently process what you learn. Your own intuitive skills will at times interfere with your capacity to listen to others, which is something else you may need to take into account.
I think that's pretty accurate. I'm very visual, and am also intuitive on MBTI, being an INTP. That last sentence is also spot-on. Unless I write verbal instructions down, I tend to forget or garble them.

When people try to give me driving directions, I always say, "Never mind; I'll just look at the map." Once though, I drew my own map from my sister's directions for getting to her new home in the country, and that stayed in my mind so well I never had to consult the real one.

[Edit] I didn't look at the analysis of my answers, so I did it again - and got mostly different questions (one of which was incomprehensibly American) but the almost the same results.

Hmm. I appear to be the only person on my flist who took that test, looked at the results and went, "are they nuts?" and abandoned the whole thing with a roll of the eyes.

Possibly the says something about my brain, in and of itself, I don't know. :)

[livejournal.com profile] shimere277 wasn't impressed; it thought she was constrained and restricted her expressiveness. !!! Maybe it works better on some people.

No, you weren't. Well, they were half right, but also half wrong. I think it's too limited... I vaguely recall that a few years ago when a "learning styles" meme went around, I came up verbal-visual, which doesn't really fit properly in the Auditory-versus-Visual classification.

I bet it's because I'm INTJ -- we get marginalized due to scarcity.

INTPs are rare too, but I thought it did OK with me.

I got Auditory 28%, Visual 71%, Left 66%, Right 33%.

Interesting to see the left-brain dominance they suggest, as I'm left-handed, which is controlled by the right brain.

I didn't reckon much to their analysis though, which went on about how logical and organized I am, even though I specifically answered a question saying I'd like to be more organized. It didn't mention any creativity at all.

My scores were similar to yours, indicating the same left-brain dominance, and I'm left-handed also.

I guess this is why Mistral wanted more results. It seems to vary in accuracy a lot.

Mine didn't mention organisation, but I find I have different mind patterns at work and at home. I'm very organised at work, possibly because it's easy to compartmentalise and deal with things, and I have more control over my immediate area (I can keep the office tidy). At home however things are more uncontrollable and I live with an untidy hoarder with little aesthetic sense that would enable him to see how ugly messes are, so I tend to give up. Anybody who works with me would be surprised.

I think the assumption that visual/auditory is necessarily left/right brain doesn't always apply to lefthanders.

Some lefties have crossover ability in both hemispheres for some tasks that are usually considered localized only in one hemisphere (such as language). Judging from various signs/tests/aptitudes I believe I'm a lefty of this type. So when it says I'm visual, that doesn't necessarily mean I'm left-brained, because my visual 'centers' are probably on both sides of my brain.

The test would have been better if it had asked handedness & taken that into account.
