Space Commander Vilakins!

From [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2:

NerdTests.com User Test: The Trekkie Test.

I'm amazed I did as well as her.

And there was wonderful B7ness in my mail today: a composite Christmassy poster from [livejournal.com profile] entropy_house, and from [livejournal.com profile] minnie13: a card (Santa Blake putting a teleport bracelet, a model Liberator, and a teddy bear in my stockings); a Vila bookmark; and some photos of Vila and Michael Keating. :-D

Next time I see you I'll have to salute, I only made lieutenant.%)

Hey, it's better than ensign in a red shirt!

[identity profile] hafren.livejournal.com 2006-12-19 12:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I came out ensign, but only because there was nothing lower...

I scored commander too, but I basically gave up on the last two series.

I think I recall seeing this sort of quiz for B7 once, but it wasn't a glitzy interactive one. I remember questions like "Do you name your pets after B7 characters?" and "Do you say 'Down and Safe' after arriving at the airport?" Yes to both. I was embarrassed.

I'm sure you will provide a surprising and interesting death.

You didn't like DS9? I thought it was great: interesting characters and aliens, though I preferred the Cardassians to the Bajorans.

I thought that might be one of [livejournal.com profile] snowgrouse's ones, but I think hers are all character ones. I usually give my pets names unconnected to anyone I know, but Vic is named for Vic Fontaine, the lounge singer from DS9 because he wears a tux.

I managed to score commander too, in spite of avoiding DS9 as much as I could I sort of absorbed it by osmosis.
As for naming pets, er do daughters count as pets?

[identity profile] shimere277.livejournal.com 2006-12-20 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
I loved DS9 to a point, but I think it jumped the shark when Kira's boyfriend died in an attack of political correctness. (I think they were trying to make a syrupy point about environmentalism.) The two series I gave up on totally were Voyager and Enterprise.

I once had a kitty named Vila.

You have a daughter called Avon? ;-) How'd you slip that one past her father?

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-12-20 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
I remember you saying he marked his territory a lot. :-p

The whiny Palestinians Bajorans and their religion were my least favourite part of DS9, followed by the sexist Ferengi society (this is a bloody cliché, not an original idea, guys) but the rest was pretty cool. I adore Garak.

No her name is Cally, though if she had been a boy it would have been Keiran!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-12-20 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I was kidding about Avon. :-) Cally is a lovely name and I have an OC in an unwritten non-B7 novel called that. Did you know it used to be short for Caroline (like Sally for Sarah, Tel for Terence etc)?

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2006-12-20 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Its also a name in its own right of celtic origin, ditto for Kerr.
Cally = beautiful
Kerr = spear

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-12-20 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Cally as beautiful could also come from the Greek Callista which means that.

[identity profile] jaxomsride.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Same root perhaps?
