Simpsons-style Tarrant

It's been a while since I did some artwork, and I'd like to complete my Simpsons-style Blake's 7 series to put them on my site, so here's Tarrant. Just Soolin to do now.

Tarrant: teeth that outshine the stars

My GlArMaCo gallery is here and my NaArMaMo one is here.

Bwahahaha!

Well slap my thigh and call me Prince Charming %P. So Tarrent.

Oooh, stud.... erm... studs. :^)

[identity profile] matildabj.livejournal.com 2006-10-30 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, this is too beautiful for words. Love it.

[identity profile] spacefall.livejournal.com 2006-10-30 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe, the teeth! I love these :D

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-10-30 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I should add a sparkle to them!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-10-30 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
And another lovely icon! [grins at the text]

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-10-30 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee. Thanks!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-10-30 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
And he has a white charger spaceship with suggestive protuberances. ;-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-10-30 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, from me and Tarrant's trousers!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-10-30 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
And they're all his own!

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2006-10-30 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Thankee! I'm not as clever at this as some of you (I still haven't worked out lettering with borders) but it's fun to think up something silly and... well be able to do it :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-10-30 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Lettering with borders is easy in the GIMP. I can tell you how to do it if that's what you have.

[identity profile] pussintweed.livejournal.com 2006-10-31 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
That picture is SO fabulous!

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-10-31 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Hee, thanks! I must icon it now.

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2006-10-31 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
I do have GIMP; I don't use if much for text as it has a nasty trick of telling me it can't find something called Mon Serif 8 (which is too in there with the rest of the fonts, I checked) and turning itself off :(

But please do send me the how to, even if I can't get it to work there, it may work on one of the others :)

As it is, I'm managing without, I guess it does make for succinctness :)

If you're managing things in the GIMP, that means I should start trying. Particularly as I've got that assignment and the exam out of the way now...

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-11-01 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
Just remembered about this.
  1. Duplicate the text layer
  2. Working in the lower text layer, select text by colour
  3. Grow selection by one pixel
  4. Fill it with your chosen background colour
I hope that's fairly clear. :-)

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2006-11-02 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
It is, It is, and I got it! As you can see... I need to practice to get it just right, but I'm so happy that your instructions made sense first time (and helped me work out what I was doing wrong generally) Thank you thank you!!

I still do like the little Painstar prgram for general text - for one, it makes text patterned with gradient dead easy :) and the actually pasting on is easier. But at least now I know how to do this... sorta :)

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2006-11-02 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't seem to be as hard as I feared it would, but [livejournal.com profile] vilakins gave me where to find a couple of good step-by-step instructions pages... and I've been fumbling around ever since :)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-11-02 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
You can add a gradient to text in GIMP too: just select the layer and put a gradient of your choice on it. Here's one I prepared earlier. ;-)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-11-02 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
[boggles at your icon] That's JP? What's she doing, panto?

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2006-11-02 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
{g} No it isn't JP, it's just a picture I found from an old, very bad kid's show (it was rather less pink and pastel and pretty) and immediately thought that that what she should have disguised her Sleery self as, certainly any post-Sleery self.

After all, Travis got a new face, why not his boss? (her need would be greater...)

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-11-02 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't think she had teeth that big. It looks a bit like Cilla Black.

PS...

[identity profile] sallymn.livejournal.com 2006-11-02 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
You're the second person who's boggled too :) Maybe I was a tad less subtle than I could have been...

[identity profile] snowgrouse.livejournal.com 2006-11-05 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Bweeeee! Fantastic! :D I love it!:D

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2006-11-05 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
:-D And I iconised him too.

I love that clip of yours. He looks like a naughty schoolboy.
