Fanfic survey

Copied from several people now.

Fanficton
Do you read or write fanfiction?Yes and yes.
When did you first start reading/writing fanfiction? In 2001 when I fell for Blake's 7 and wanted more.
What was your first fandom?For reading/writing? Blake's 7. Otherwise I have lots.
First ship? The Enterprise, but now the Liberator and the Mumak. ;-)
What website do you use most?LJ because that's where my friends are.
What do you think of Fanfiction.net?I don't go there. One visit was enough.
What fandoms have you written in?Mostly Blake's 7 with forays into Farscape and an assortment of crossovers.
Pairings?Not very often.
Any fandoms you would like to write in?It's mostly Blakes 7 for me. I can love a show or novel series without wanting to write for it.
Do reviews affect how you write in any way?No, but they might affect where I post certain stories.
Do you use a beta?Yes, for anything longer than a b7friday story.
What ratings do you read/write?Mostly gen; implied sex is OK but I don't like explicit.
What warnings have you used on your fiction/read?Spoilers, tear-jerker, but usually none.
Do you have any squicks?Explicit sex, violence, torture.
Do you Role-play online? If so, what?I play Vila, Kerril, and soon Dayna in b7_rpg.
Have you ever stolen something from another person's work?Nope, unless you count reusing plot ideas like body-swapping.
Favorite fandom to write/read?Blake's 7.
Favorite pairing?None.
Favorite writer/writers?Those I know here and in b7friday; many classic B7 writers in the Hermit library.
How long should a chapter be?That depends.
Do you write/read drabbles?Occasionally / yes.
Any fandoms you avoid? No, but I don't read that many.
Pairings you avoid?None, but I avoid explicit sex and PWP.
Warnings you avoid?See my squicks.
Do the number of reviews tell how good a story is?No.
What do you think of Mary Sues? They're annoying, even when done well.
Have you ever flamed someone? No, but I've vented on my LJ a couple of times.
Have you ever been flamed? Not for my fiction.
That's it, aren't you glad?Yep, I get a cup of tea now.

The Enterprise, but now the Liberator and the Mumak.

LOL! Now that is the best answer to that question!

I think for me it was the Enterprise, the TARDIS and then the Liberator.

unless you count reusing plot ideas like body-swapping.... and that was nearly canon, so it don't count.

I don't think I made up any Doctor Who stories as a kid, but I know I did Star Trek and B7 ones.

[identity profile] vilakins.livejournal.com 2005-11-23 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
True, and at least three other SF series have done it. Anyway, as you said in your survey, it's not stealing; it's homage. :-)
