Minder sightings

Due to the lack of quality TV on our free-to-air channels, we've been watching a lot of old British classics on the new UKTV channel. Minder was a favourite of my mother's, and I can now see why--like Blake's 7, made around the same time, it has engaging characters and witty dialogue. B7 and Star Trek cast-members have turned up in guest spots. So far I've seen David Jackson (Gan) as Big Stan, Brian Croucher (Travis) as a night-club bouncer, and a young Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi) as a London Greek--which in fact she is--Cockney accent and all. Perhaps that was her original accent; I've seen her in something else, an old TV play, in which she played a similar character.

And this week I think I saw Mark Elliott (Vinni) as an uncredited and unnamed sidekick. I wonder who else will turn up.

We watch Granada Plus and UKGold for much the same reasons - Roy Hattersley once said they were for people who prefer quality secondhand goods to brand-new rubbish. I specially liked getting things like Hamish Macbeth back, and it was what rekinlded my interest in B7 and thus indirectly caused me to start writing fan fiction.

And this week I think I saw Mark Elliott (Vinni)

Unfortunately, because he wasn't credited, I'm not sure it was him. It looked like him though, and I was right about Marina Sirtis, though Greg didn't believe it till he saw the credits. I rather suspect she's had surgery.
