It's the 28th here, and tonight's the last one for Hanukkah, so here's the picture and text for my card.

I thought I'd posted this, but it doesn't seem to have shown up. Ah well, it's still the 26th somewhere.

After [livejournal.com profile] sallymn posted links to her excellent Christmas stories, Dear Avalon reminded me that I'd written two very light Christmas ficlets.

Christmas Greetings - the crew send each other seasonal messages.

Three Wishes - the Christmas fairy gives the crew three wishes. Don't look at me like that; it was a response to a challenge!

Since it's Christmas Day here, I thought I'd post links to three of my stories that people might enjoy.

Let There be Light manages to cover Hanukkah, Christmas, pagan solstice festivals, and scepticism, so there's something for everyone!

Seven Gifts, set not long after Gauda Prime Day, and also seasonal.

The Star is a ficlet I wrote for a Christmas prompt one year: three of the crew are interested in the light from a certain nova.

Because it is Christmas here: over an hour into it. I'm off to bed now, but I'll leave you with a Blake's 7 story I wrote five years ago for a Christmas challenge. May also contain Hanukkah.

I went over to Pakuranga (another Auckland suburb) today to collect a painting a relative did for me a few weeks ago. One of the neighbours in her street has ... an inflated Santa, trembling in the wind. I was delighted that I had my camera.
Blow-up Santa )

OK, maybe these are common where you live, but it's the first one I've ever seen.

On the way home, I took another photo of the famed Kitschmas house, also in Pakuranga. This place has been decorated every year for at least ten years, and each time there is more. The Mary and strangely red-faced Joseph are new.

The place is lit up at night and Greg jokes they need the power pylon you can see nearby. Once again, this isn't normal for here.

And here's the lovely painting I got!

It's of the Bay of Islands, where we often go on holiday. Isn't it gorgeous? And not at all kitsch. :-D

I have addresses for a surprising number of you and tomorrow will be sending out the B7 card I designed last night in a frantic late-night session. If it doesn't get to people in time for whatever they celebrate, consider it a New Year card. :-)

If I haven't got your address and you'd like a card, please leave your addy in the screened comments. [livejournal.com profile] snowgrouse, this includes you since I assume you'll be leaving the flat of doom. :-)

And I must say that LJ have gone the subtle route with their seasonal banner this year. Very nice. Northern lights, I assume?

I just went (very belatedly) to the Blake's 7 Advent Calendar here to see the picture for Christmas Day. They're all watching Doctor Who on Zen's big screen! Fantastic!

It occurred to me that I could give all of you a seasonal card. So here it is.

To all of my LJ friends,

mixed blessings

Wishing you a holiday filled with warmth, light, love, and joy, lots of fun, and shiny presents.

Love, Nico

Bwahaha, have the B7 fans seen the picture for day 11 on the Blake's 7 advent calendar?

[livejournal.com profile] steverogerson, you're a star!

Tree!

My tree is up, go me! I never bothered with one till I found some lovely blown-glass decorations in a shop and got a tree (artificial; I hate to kill one) to display them on. Some of the globes look like gas giants so the Liberator is in orbit over one. Only one friend is likely to notice and appreciate this. Oh, well.

It's Christmas day here, warm and sunny and almost lunch-time. Just in case any of you forgot to make your Christmas cake, here's Vila's own recipe, only recently relocated on the web.
